Description
This painting is a command from a priest that wanted to have an illustration of Salm 123,7:
" Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers". He wanted the Virgin to be the savior of the captured birds; and the bird flying away would be his own soul. The red color of the Virgin´s dress symbolizes her courage and strength of heart; and the white color her purity.
